$#*! my...

Guy at the blackjack table says.

Newbie: "When do you split aces?"
Hard-working man (slurring): "You split aces against whatever the dealer's got."

Trust us. You had to be there.

woof

guess who has two thumbs and a terrible case of food poisoning?  <---this guy.

after the jets/steelers game last night, i started to feel like crap.  i took a gi-normous deuce and realized that something wasn't right.  all day today i've been losing liquids left and right and am ready to throw in the towel.

sad, isn't it, how being sick can give me an excuse to blog?  my take on the NFC and AFC championship games.

jay cutler will undoubtedly be haunted by sitting out for the rest of his life.  his toughness, love of the game, and performance will be questioned no matter if he puts up hall of fame numbers for the rest of his career or if he never plays another game.  i feel for you, jay.  this afternoon it was reported that he had an MCL sprain--an injury that could easily become a career-threatening one had he chosen to stay in the game--but is still an injury that you can play through.  (philip rivers a few years back played in the AFC championship game with a completely torn ACL...just sayin'.)

i had the packers winning the game the whole way, but was surprised at how close it was (especially with their 3rd string QB playing the majority of the 2nd half).  this may be one of those games that verifies how defenses win championships--b.j. raji, you deserve a raise.

i passionately hate all things related to rex ryan, so i was pulling for the steelers throughout the entire game (like the packers, i had predicted a steelers blowout).  when the steelers went up by 24, i was beaming with pride to see the look of disgust on ryan's face.  (sidenote: anyone else notice the stupid little celebration nick folk did when he hit the field goal towards the end of the 2nd quarter?  what a tool).

i was impressed with how the jets came storming back in the 2nd half.  i felt like the steelers played the second half "trying not to lose" rather than "trying to win by even more."  i thought that the jets exposed a few weaknesses in the steeler's secondary and definitely had a few rushing plays that went for a lot longer than they should have.  ultimately, i almost began to shed tears of joy after watching rex ryan slam his headset to the turf in disgust and frustration after he realized the jets would lose the game.  good riddance.

i (and i think many other experts as well) am predicting a close game between the packers and steelers.  on one side you have an explosive offense (packers) against a stifling defense (steelers) and on the other you have a solid offense (steelers) against dom capers (packers).

my prediction: packers 31 steelers 27.

i think that the steelers will be ahead 27-24 late in the 4th quarter.  at that point, they will shut down to "play not to lose mode" which is a horrible decision against the packers.  you can get away with it against the jets, but never against the packers.  aaron rodgers is just miles ahead of mark sanchez.  rodgers leads the pack to a game-winning drive and cements his place in super bowl history.

run faster, knile davis

hello there, blogosphere.

since bock and i were last reunited (see previous post) quite a bit has happened.

i moved out of my apartment on thursday the 30th.  usually this wouldn't be significant, except for the fact that i moved during a frickin huge blizzard.

blizzard: "imma rape you!"
me: "this sucks."

before i moved, i had to defrost my minifridge.  so i basically had no food whatsoever.  the plan was to (late thursday night) make a grocery run.  i hadn't been outside since unpacking in the afternoon, so when i called my girlfriend to ask if she would help me get groceries, she said, "are you stupid?  have you seen what it's like outside?"

in the 2 hours or so i spent unpacking, it had snowed about 8 inches.

touche, north dakota....touche.

friday morning i got a call from my girlfriend asking if i could come help dig her car out of the ditch.  i had nothing to do (and no food) so i gladly offered to help figuring i would get a nice meal out of the deal.  as soon as i took my neon out of its new driveway, i found myself stuck in the middle of 7th avenue blocking both directions of traffic.

i carry a shovel with me in the trunk of my car year-round.  after tirelessly shoveling every square inch underneath, around, in front of, and behind my car i was still unable to get it to move one inch.  after seeing all of my struggles, a guy who was patiently waiting for me to move (i was blocking him from using the road) helped push me out.  big props to that guy!

i finally arrived at my girlfriend's place and shoveled out her car.  we went to her parent's house and shoveled out their driveway as well.  i was treated to a nice lunch and soon realized that yet another blizzard was on its way to fargo.

touche, north dakota...touche.

within hours all of our cars were buried.  considering that her parents live just outside of dilworth...none of their roads were plowed.  i wasn't able to leave until sunday afternoon.

whatever, north dakota....whatever.

yesterday i drove back to brainerd where i will spend a few more days of break.  unfortunately, i'm sicker than a dog, so hopefully i'll be feeling better in the coming days.

it's back to fargo (weather pending) on thursday.  hopefully bockmed and ahmed will be reunited in fargo for the weekend.  if so, it will be a weekend of epicness, i guarantee you that.

i don't yet have internet at my new place, so i can't guarantee any new blog posts for a few more days.  but once i do get internet, i have a few stories for our loyal reader(s).

keep it toasty, TBTOO.
